El catálogo de juegos de la consola portátil Game Gear llegó a contar con más de 300 títulos, en cartuchos que iban de los 2 a los 8 megabits, de los cuales un tercio fueron realizados por terceras compañías (third parties) como Namco, SNK, Konami, Williams, Domark, Codemasters, Tecmo... ; en muchos casos, se trataban de juegos multiplataforma. El resto del catálogo (la mayoría) lo completan juegos desarrollados por la propia Sega. A la lista de juegos de Game Gear hay que sumar toda la lista de juegos Master System que pueden jugarse a través del adaptador Master Gear.
