And here’s another rumor for you today: A UK gaming magazine is claiming that Heavenly Sword 2 is in the works.

According to PlayGamer (via The Silent Chief), the next game will be set 10 years after the first one, and is an open-world sandbox title.

Missions will be replayable within an interactive environment, and you will have to earn the famous sword in the game by mastering various different disciplines of martial arts.

The magazine suggests players will start out with basic hand-to-hand combat before moving onto more intense physical combat learnings before being able to wield the Heavenly Sword.

More information at E3 is expected according to the article.

Last year, Ninja Theory boss Tameem Antoniades said he had thought about putting Nariko in Hell should a sequel be created, and Kai would be playable “in the real world and would communicate with Nariko and try and help rescue her soul,” and that Kai would transform from a “teenage girl to old woman.”

This was just an idea though, and not confirmation of a sequel or anything else.

Ninja Theory has since released Enslaved,and is currently at work on a Devil May Cry reboot for Capcom – something we have not heard about in a bloody age or three.

Warner Bros. Seattle general manager Laura Fryer has suggested that a new game from Monolith Productions could be announced in the coming weeks, pointing to an E3 announcement from the F.E.A.R. 2 developer.

Talking to Develop magazine about her forthcoming appearance at the Develop conference in July, Fryer said that "by conference time we should also be able to talk about the latest game from the creative team behind No One Lives Forever and F.E.A.R., and what we've learned along the way."

That'll be Monolith, then.

Current job ads on Monolith's website point to the possibility of the game being an open-world title, with one asking for an "expert in level/world design/layout/creation, game-play/AI setup/scripting for large AAA action/adventure or open-world games."

Monolith has previously developed the superb Austin Powers-alike No One Lives Forever series, as well as Condemned and F.E.A.R 1 and 2. The studio was acquired by Warner Bros in 2004.

Could an E3 reveal for the studio's next game be on the cards?

Natsume sent us most of their E3 lineup. Yes, Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns is on it for Nintendo 3DS and DS. We should be able to find out what’s new about the 3DS version during the show. In addition to Harvest Moon, there is Gabrielle’s Ghostly Groove, Reel Fishing Paradise, and something that piqued my curiosity – "a highly-anticipated unannounced title for PS3 and Wii."

Telltale Games has announced that the following titles will be showcasing during the E3 2011 event: Jurassic Park: The Game (PC, Mac Xbox 360 & PS3), Back to the Future: The Game (PC, Mac. PS3 & iPad) and Puzzle Agent 2 (PC, Mac & iPad/iPhone). Telltale Games will be located in Concourse Hall, #8205.

No es habitual que en un E3 coincidan la presentación de dos nuevos sistemas, pero tanto NGP como la sucesora de Wii harán acto de presencia, sin descartarse alguna sorpresa más. El analista de Wedbush Morgan, Michael Pachter, se muestra muy ilusionado con lo que se espera encontrar en la feria: “Los jugadores serán los ganadores en el E3, porque va a haber una gran cantidad de juegos este año. Estoy especialmente interesado en ver el Star Wars y Battefield de EA, el anuncio del nuevo Call of Duty, posiblemente el juego de Bungie o Respawn Entertainment, algo bueno de Take-Two. También Ubisoft mostrará el nuevo Assassin´s Creed y Driver, THQ enseñará Saint´s Row 3, y es probable que veamos Batman: Arkham Asylum, Rage… Tanto que no puedo enumerar todo. Randy Pitchford, el responsable de Gearbox Software (Borderlands), ha anunciado que muy pronto tendremos noticias del nuevo Brothers in Arms, del que ya se sabía de su desarrollo pero del que no hay todavía ningún detalle.

En declaraciones recogidas por XG247, Pitchford ha anunciado: “Nos encanta la serie Brothers in Arms, y el siguiente juego de la franquicia está a día de hoy en desarrollo. Podéis esperar noticias sobre el juego muy pronto”, citándonos indirectamente al E3.

El año pasado Randy Pitchford ya había señalado que el nuevo juego de la serie tomaría “una nueva dirección”.

Following a look at what to expect from E3 2011′s press conferences last week, we today move onto the stage-averse third-parties. Take it away, Big Bobby.

Activision – We’re going to see Bungie’s new IP, right? It’s unlikely. Bungie already said it’s not going to be in LA, so unless a teaser’s shown at any of the press conferences, it’s a no.

Activision’s show is all about Modern Warfare 3. Expect details Beachhead’s Call of Duty involvement as well.

We’ll definitely get a further look-in at Prototype 2, Spiderman: Edge of Time and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Activision’s E3 won’t include a music game this year, so there’ll be nothing from Guitar Hero or DJ Hero.

In addition, True Crime: Hong Kong has been canned and Tony Hawk been put on ice: expect the latter to be back next year, though.

As for Blizzard, it tends to skip E3. Look for your fill of Diablo III and potentially news on Titan at either gamescom or Blizzcon in October.

The first look of the second part of the StarCraft II arc, the Zerg-based Heart of the Swarm, will be shown to media later this month.

Take-Two – Expect Take-Two to go large at E3 this year. In the week where Duke Nukem Forever will finally release after more than a decade in development, the publisher will have some of its 2K core line-up on show, including BioShock Infinite, X-Com and maybe even Spec Ops: The Line, which we haven’t seen much of since its VGAs announce in 2009.

Rockstar may show Max Payne 3 and possibly the PS3-exclusive Agent, but the big one is Grand Theft Auto V. It’s highly likely we’ll see GTA V announced at the show, and it may well be Microsoft’s press conference gigaton, assuming it’s tied up another exclusive DLC announcement.

Expect to see first official mention of Borderlands 2. Is it for a holiday 2011 release? Who knows. But Pitchford and co will be lining this one up for LA. Watch for it.

THQ – Going on THQ’s showing last year, expect surprises. What’ll appear, exactly, is a bit of a mystery as yet. inSane? Doubtful. Devil’s Third? Maybe. Darksiders 2? Likely. Metro: Last Light and the next UFC iteration? Dead set.

You’ll definitely get Saints Row: The Third, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, MMO Dark Millennium, a promised reboot to the main WWE series and more.

THQ has other unannounced possibilities, such as Patrice Desilets’ new IP at THQ Montreal or Relic’s new strategy title, although that’s being announced in August. That’ll be Cologne, then.

Still, watch Danny closely. LA’s home turf for the studio head, and he loves to showboat.

Bethesda – The publisher is in the middle of its strongest year ever. Brink is out now, and Hunted will launch on E3 week. The company’s key titles at the LACC will undoubtedly be Skyrim, RAGE and Prey 2. Expect Skyrim to pick up a ton of Game of the Show awards, going by what we saw in Utah at Bethesda’s pre-E3 event in April.

In terms of announcements? Bethesda didn’t reveal anything at E3 last year, instead just issuing new media for already announced titles like RAGE, Brink and Fallout: New Vegas.

That said, isn’t it time we heard what Arkane was up to? “And Tango too,” we hear you shout. No chance on that: PR boss Pete Hines told us on the phone back in January that Mikami’s next was very far out. And id? The studio will have RAGE, but announcements? No: a DOOM 4 announce, if any, will be kept for Quakecon.

Despite past form, there are two major announcement possibilities from Bethesda: the next Fallout game, and the heavily rumoured Elder Scrolls MMO.

Bethesda said in March it would open a customer service centre in Galway for ZeniMax Online, which has been working on an online game for years. It may well be time for a reveal.

Square Enix – Squeenix is expected to be a force in LA this year, both in terms of Japanese and western output.

On the Japanese side, you’re going to most likely get Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy XIV PS3 and confirmation of western launches of Final Fantasy Type-0 and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Outside FF, there’s Kingdom Hearts 3DS too.

Arguably, though, the firm’s western line-up is the place to be. Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman: Absolution and Tomb Raider will be there, with hopefully a release timeframe for Lara’s latest.

And announcements? Square has an announcement in some form every year. E3 ’08: FFXIII 360. E3 ’09: FFXIV PS3. E3 ’10: the full reveal of Deus Ex to press. This year? Versus XIII 360? FFXV? FFVII remake? Thief 4? Take your pick.

Namco Bandai – Don’t expect too many announcements from Namco after its Level Up event in Dubai, but theY will have a strong show regardless.

Dark Souls, Ace Combat: Assault Rising, Ridge Racer: Unbounded, Inversion and western releases of Tales of Graces F and Tales of the Abyss are bound to be re-trumpeted at the show.

We’ll also get a first proper look at Soul Calibur V at E3, following its Dubai announcement.

On the Tekken side, maybe confirmation of a console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2? It’s not beyond the realms of possibility.

Capcom – Capcom has announcements practically every month. Don’t expect E3 to pass by with the company sticking its oar in. Quite what they’ll be is unknown, however.

In terms of what Capcom will show, expect the usual suspects from Captivate: Street Fighter x Tekken and SSFIV Arcade Edition, Dragon’s Dogma, Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City, Resident Evil: Mercenaries and Revelations, Asura’s Wrath and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record.

There’s also a couple of games we haven’t seen in a while too. Where’s Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor? And where’s Ninja Theory’s DmC? We’ll hopefully find out next month.

Sega – Sega’s a bit trickier to predict. There’s Captain America and Rise of Nightmares for Kinect as well as Avalanche’s Renegade Ops, which is due out in summer.

Platinum’s Anarchy Reigns and Binary Domain from Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi are more interesting: the latter’s now been confirmed for the show.

Creative Assembly’s just announced an Alien title, but that’s only just kicked off, so don’t expect much more on that for a while.

Capcom has said that a new showing of DMC may come at E3, but added that fans of the publisher may want to keep expectations on what to expect for the show to a minimal.

Guerrilla Games’ New IP:

Last year, Herman Hulst confirmed that Guerrilla had started work on a new IP not related to the Killzone franchise. A new game running on the impressive Killzone 3 engine will be one to keep an eye out for.

Sony Santa Monica’s New Game:

Sony Santa Monica has been busy filling several key positions within the company. Nothing has been confirmed as to whether they are working a a direct sequel to God of War 3 or a new game. However, there is a great possibility that they will have something on display.

David Cage’s Next Project:

David Cage announced previously that his company is working on two very different projects. He has expressed that he really enjoys his relationship with Sony so there is little doubt that his next game will appear only on PS3.

Syphon Filter:

Gabe Logan has been rumored previously to be making his return to the video game scene from the developers over at Sony Bend. E3 2011 could present the perfect time to reintroduce the franchise to the gaming masses.

Sly Cooper 4:

Sucker Punch’s Brian Fleming has previously stated that the return of Sly is something that will be likely to happen. The Sly Collection is no doubt a precursor to a much bigger release that is on the horizon.

Dontnod, a studio formed by ex-Criterion and Ubisoft staffers, will be in attendance at E3, meaning PS3-exclusive AAA sci-fi action RPG project, codenamed 'Adrift', can't be far behind

Dontnod Entertainment (i.e. 'Don't Nod'), a Paris-based independent studio, confirmed on its webpage that it'll be attending E3 next month.

Dontnod was was founded by Oskar Guilbert, former Head of Developer Relations at Criterion Software; staff include ex-Ubisoft creative director Jean-Maxime Moris and science-fiction scribe Alain Damasio.

“An E3 reveal seems a certainty”

The studio, which now boasts around 80 employees, has been working on a futuristic action RPG for the past three years, codenamed 'Adrift', which was confirmed as a PS3-exclusive back in June last year.

Adrift is powered by Unreal Engine 3, described as a 'new IP' and has been shown behind-closed-doors at past events like GDC.

An E3 reveal seems a certainty - we'll aim to catch up with Dontnod on the showfloor and bring you all the details on NowGamer.

A user on the PlayStation Blog had said “wow what is sony gonna announce at E3 ? you guys have announced Starhawk and PSP games coming to PS3 already , those are E3 news !!!!!” to which Sony’s James Gallagher said “Lots of cool things!”. Although Sony has over 20 PlayStation 3 exclusives – including several PlayStation Network titles – the possibility of further game announcements during their press conference is indeed enticing to say the least: what could Sony have in their pockets to wow the masses?

Team ICO boss Fumito Ueda has said that he won’t be attending E3 in a week-and-a-half, casing serious doubts over if The Last Guardian will also make an appearance.

The developer confirmed the news on Twitter earlier.

It puts into jeopardy a possible new showing of The Last Guardian, which hasn’t been seen in video form since Tokyo Game Show.

Another year, another E3 without Respawn Entertainment, the new studio headed by Call of Duty creators Vince Zampella and Jason West. They have confirmed on their official Twitter that there will be no announcements from the EA-sponsored developer at the Los Angeles gaming expo.

“For those asking, Respawn won’t be making any announcements at #E3 this year,” wrote Respawn on Twitter. “We will be wandering the floor though!”
