How To Restore A Spoofed Hitachi
For a while now myself and i know a few others who've never been abled to restore a spoofed hitachi, because as soon as you goto flash over the original firmware the drive is a different version spoofed anyway.

so to restore heres how i done it:

1. Get the drive into modeb either using slax, connectivity kit or windows.

2. Find what the drive should be originally and obtain a original firmware for that drive (these are located inside the firmware toolbox fw folder)

3. Open the original firmware in toolbox and in toolbox choose

Tools>Direct Drive Flash>Flash String ID

if you recieve a message about the master checksum just click yes, now select internal flasher and click start flashing.

4. Once done with no errors remove the drive from device manager or using toolbox, then turn the drive off then back on then put it back into modeb.

5. Now do a drive dump using raw mode with a dvd/game inside and once dumped open the firmware and you'll see you now have a unspoofed drive which you can now reflash or restore.

some people may already know how to do this but thought i'd post it anyway as i've seen and heard of plenty of bricks after trying to restore a hitachi.

I also would not reccomend using a VIA chipset/PCI Card for this as flashing hitachis with them can be unpredictable at times
