¡Buenas!
Hasta ahora he tenido un disco externo con partición NTFS, mediante ntfs-3g, sin problemas.
El problema vino al actualizar a la última versión de ntfs-3g disponible en gentoo: ntfs3g-0.20061115.
Con el mismo kernel con el que antes montaba sin problema obtengo:
cerebellum ~ # mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /mnt/audio -o locale=es_ES.utf8
fusermount: mount failed: No such device
Failed to create FUSE mount point.
Retry to create FUSE mount point ...
fusermount: mount failed: No such device
Failed to create FUSE mount point.
Unmounting /dev/sdb1 ()
Viendo en la FAQ de la página oficial de ntfs-3g obtengo
la supuesta solución a mi problema.
Y esto obtengo con el comando que citan en la FAQ:
cerebellum ~ # grep fuse /var/log/messages

Raro... no me aparece nada de 'kernel: fuse distribution version: 2.6.0' como aparece en la página.
He probado a compilar con otro nuevo kernel, el 2.6.18-r2, pero sigue todo igual...

Bien... como siempre, estoy tontín. Mirando las listas de correo de ntfs3g vi que había algún otro más con mi problema. Había hecho dos cosas mal:
1. Incluir FUSE en el último kernel que compilé
2. Desinstalar "mal" el anterior.
Vamos que, desinstalé, hice "rmmod fuse", y volví a instalar la última versión de FUSE y... ¡voilá!
