Playmore, Eolith and Sun Amusement Co. have released first details on their upcoming 2D fighter game for the NeoGeo/MVS system, "The King Of Fighters 2002", through Enterbrain Inc.'s Arcadia magazine.
"The King Of Fighters 2002" is scheduled for release in October for the Arcade MVS system, running at approximately 700Megabits. Development is currently 90% complete. The company structure for development and distribution will be the same as KOF2001.
As a game running between story chapters, "The King Of Fighters 2002" does not have a distinct storyline and will be positioned as a dream match battle, similarly to KOF98. Specific details on the characters and game system have not been revealed as of now.
"The King Of Fighters 2002" is confirmed to have between 35 to 40 characters. Its basic controls are the same to the previous in its series, with the ABCD button corresponding to weak punch, kick, and fierce punch, kick. Small, medium and large jumps are still existent. A new system relating to the Power meter will be added. Some system(s) will be deleted.
At the current time, no images of the game are available except for two blurred teasers. Character illustrations of the game will be released next month.
