This is port of gpSP-kai 3.3 test 1 for Playstation 2. It's using sound core from gpspmod. Most of games should run at full speed without using scaling option. It's possible to use auto or manual frame skip to increase speed. There is also option to select interpreter mode but it's much slower than asm core.
- run unzipped and zipped roms (32MB roms must be uncompressed)
- selectable frameskip option
- support hd modes like: 480p, 720p and 1080i
- scaling options
- running roms from hdd, mass, mc
At startup gpsp will search for main path where must be placed: "cfg" folder with configuration files, bios file named "gba_bios.bin", "game_config.txt" file. There also will be saved configuration file "gpsp.cfg" while exiting. Main path can be set in three ways:
- hdd boot path compatible with FHDB
- configuration file "mc0:/SYS-CONF/GPSP_KAI.CFG"
- boot path from mass or mc
In "cfg" folder there are config files "dir.cfg", "language.fnt" and translation files "language.msg". In "dir.cfg" can be set paths to separate folder for games cfg, savestates and etc. "language.fnt" sets path for font files "5x10rk.fbm" and "knj10.fbm". These are needed to run gpsp. It's possible to set paths to hdd partition (example: "hdd0:part_name/directory_name") but only one and the same can be used for main path and paths in cfg files. Gpsp language is automatically sets to Playstation 2 console language and can be changed in misc menu. Currently there is no other translation than English.
Game compatibility should be same as psp version of gpsp-kai. If rom can't work properly try to unpack it (when was compressed) or use version from other region. Eventual use interpreter mode.
In this release there are two elfs. One with proper iop reset for protokernel consoles and second with normal. On my SCPH-30003 I'm getting wrong date using ps2time library (also in ps2linux) after iop reset compatible with protokernel. Because of that problem I made two version.
It's early release so treat it like a beta version.
I would like to thank SP193 for fixing dynarec core.
Special thanks for:
Exophase - main developer
takka - for his work at gpsp-kai version
unknown coder for gpsp mod version
They are not well tested, so you can encounter some problems. I'm not a professional programmer.
- can be run from mass, mc, hdd (not tested) and from dirs placed there. All config/save files will be writen in the same directory where elf is
- emulator need gba bios file named "gba_bios.bin" (you can find open source replacement in src archive) and "game_config.txt" placed in the same folder were elf is
- option like video mode and menu resolution needs accepting by pressing X button
- in main menu when rom is running you can by pressing Select button change setting to per game mode
- it's better to use uncompressed roms
TempGBA has better compatibility, but some games may runs better/faster in ReGBA.
I'm not responsible for any data loss or hardware damage. Use it at own risk.
Fixed filebrowser and HDD support.
As for setting main directory with cfg file, line for HDD should looks like this: hdd0:+GBA/SOMEDIR where +GBA is partition name and SOMEDIR is
folder on that partition.
For using root directory of partition: hdd0:+GBA without slash at end.
Testeos y observaciones de los usuarios con esta versión:==================
"Game Boy Advance=pfs0:/APPS/GBA/Game Boy Advance.ELF"
Game Boy Advance.ELF
Final Fantasy 1 & 2.gba
Legend Of Zelda- A Link To The Past.gba
Mega Man Battle Network 3.gba
Metroid- Zero Mission.gba
Phantasy Star Collection.gba
Super Army War.gba
When booting a game from the HDD:
On the two meters that appear...
The first one "booting rom" = zips straight to the end, and just stays blue, with no indication of time passing.
The second one "compatibility" = does not do anything at all, and disappears almost instantly.
The games booting times are a little long (but understandable) at about 40 seconds.
Snood still does not get past entering the first level, and now I note graphical glitches which were not previously present.
Does MAIN.CFG only boot from the memory card or the USB?
This file must be placed into mc0:/PS2GBA/. It defines where the main dir is located (main dir = where bios + saves are).
This file is useful only if your ELF is in another dir than the main dir.
