[DUDA] Steam Deck OLED vs Rog Ally

Hola compañeros, tengo una duda con respecto a la Steam Deck OLED y la Rog Ally. ¿Cuál es mejor para emulación?

Entiendo que la Ally es más potente y puede llegar a emular PS3 y XBOX360, es decir es más capaz, pero sinceramente si la batería va a durar menos pues tampoco me interesa especialmente. La idea es convertir uno de estos PC en una consola retro, con llega a emular bien todo el catalogo de PS2, WII, WII U y Switch para mi es suficiente.

No se que tal es la Steam Deck con Switch. ¿Puede emular perfectamente Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? ¿Puede con todo el catálogo?

Con respecto a las pantallas por lo que he visto aparte de la diferencia de resolución HD para la Steam Deck y FullHD para la Ally, lo más destacable es la pantalla que una es OLED y la otra IPS. ¿Para retro cual es mejor? Entiendo que la OLED, pero he escuchado a usuarios avanzados hablar del VRR del panel IPS y no se si es importante para lo que busco.

Pues estás bastante bien informado en general asi que poco se puede aportar al respecto.

En resumen es eso, con ally vas a mover mejor PS3, 360 y Switch, pero a cambio vas a tener mucha peor batería en todo en general, incluidas las plataformas menos demandantes, ya que ally necesita una potencia mínima X para funcionar y mover cualquier cosa, que es mucho más alta que la que necesita deck, por ello deck en un juego de super Nintendo, la oled mismo, puede tirar con 3 vatios de potencia, y un consumo total de cinco vatios y algo, lo que en una batería de 50 WH, son prácticamente 9-10h de batería, mientras que ally incluso para mover un juego de super Nintendo, necesita unos 10w totales mínimo, lo que en una batería de 40wh, son 4h aprox, que es prácticamente el máximo que puede dar Ally en cualquier escenario de juego, 4.30 apurando por lo que hablamos de una diferencia de 5-6h respecto a deck oled que no es moco de pavo.

El VRR tiene mas sentido en triple A que tengas que correr a pocos fps porque el cacharro no de de si,.en emulación y mas de las plataformas que citas no tiene mucho sentido en mi opinion. Respecto a oled vs ally en tecnología de pantalla, pues con oled va a lucir mas tema colores, negros etc, a cambio es menos amigable para bezzels y tal ya que podrían llegar a quemar la imagen con el tiempo, pero vaya, con no usar bezzels ya tienes xD.

Tema emulacion en deck, todo lo de switch para abajo va sin probelmas.

Switch en general , configurado bien, con mods y tal, se pueden mover en unos casos igual que switch, en otros mejor y en unos pocos no llega.

Casos mas complicados;

Kirby and the Forgotten Land:

Bien configurado y con Mods va a +30 el 85% del tiempo pero habrá algun nivel que otro que bajará de 30.

Luigis Mansion 3:

Con mods está a +30 siempre, pero tiene un bug donde goluigi y el agua es transparente, que en el caso de goluigi da igual porque se le ve bien, pero el agua puede ser mas complicado en alguna fases, aunque de momento llevo 6 pisos y sin problemas.


Y no, el tears es de los pocos que le cuesta mantener 30 un % alto del tiempo, aunque con mods en historias es medio jugable, pero no el mas recomemdable no.
Muchisimas gracias por la respuesta tan detallada, por lo que entiendo Switch es necesario algo de optimización a nivel de software quizas con el tiempo mejore el emulador y de mejores resultados, pero por lo que me comentas ya va suficientemente bien.
El tema "bezzels" que es exactamente? Hay me he perdido, en teoría dicen que la pantalla oled de la Steam Deck va muy bien y no se quema no? Mientras no le pse como a los galaxy de turno que veias el teclado fantasma porque ya la pantalla estaba quemada 😅

Tambien habia pensado en otras opciones como la Retroid Pocket 4 Pro por precio, y la Odin 2 pro, pero esta última ya esta a un precio muy a la par a la Steam Deck y supongo que compensa mas la Steam Deck no?
@glide93 el detalle de la emulación de Switch es que actualmente solo Ryujinx es el "único" vivo que se sigue desarrollando constantemente.

Algunos otros emuladores de Switch toman como base Yuzu, por lo que esos proyectos terminan muriendo por falta de desarrollo o solicitud de cierre.

Pero hay bastantes títulos que se pueden mantener a 30 FPS con un TDP bajo, me refiero entre 5 y 7w, algo que hace tiempo no se podía con soltura.
Nimerio está baneado por "clon de usuario baneado"
@glide93 ls bezels son marcos, pero tendrías que jugar cientos y cientos de horas con el mismo marco (y el brillo al máximo) para que empezase a quemarse algo la imagen.

Los bezzels son los marcos estos que se ponen a veces para decorar las franjas que quedan en la emulación dd plataformas retro, decorativo vaya, pero al ser imágenes fijas que pueden estar ahí muchas horas y le metes mucha caña a la emulación, pueden no ser lo mejor para pantalla oled.

De lo otro, yo sigo bastante todo el mundo del retrogaming y si quieres ps2, wii, wiiu y lo que se pueda de Switch, por rendimiento/precio la deck es la mejor opción de lejos.....Para que te das una idea, yo cuando salió la deck oled di el salto de la LCD a la misma, principalmente por el tema batería más eficiencia, y claro iba a vender la LCD, pero a su vez tenía la intención de tener una portátil solo para emulación y/o indies y juegos arcade, y estuve mirando todo el mercado, y llegué a la conclusión de que no había absolutamente nada mejor que la deck LCD que ya tenía, y que por lo que me iban a dar por la misma, solo me podría comprar handhelds peores xD, así que me la quedé y la uso como retro handheld, con como digo indies y arcades de pc, que esto último es algo que las otras no pueden en gran medida, ya que al final se trata de verlo como pagar más o menos lo mismo por un móvil que por un ordenador portátil, con lo que eso supone a nivel de posibilidades.

Si en vez de LCD quieres la OLED, son 550 euros el modelo más barato, y ya se iguala mas el tema en cuanto a emulación, ya que la Odín 2 pro, anda por ahí más o menos también, pero vuelvo a lo de antes, yo pagar lo mismo por un móvil que por un portátil, pues no lo veo, porque le des luego utilidad o no al extra de potencia y posibilidades que tiene deck respecto a las retrohanheld, TIENES esa posibilidad, mientras que con las otras no, o o tienes que hacer malabares para instalar un windows de pega etc para luego poder mover cuatro cosas.. .

Luego está también el tema de lo user friendly que son unas otras, ya que la mayoría de retro handhelds, el sistema operativo que traen por defecto no suele ser el óptimo, y toca reinstalar la mejor versión o directamente otro, y toca configurar los controles y demás, mientras que con deck instalas emudeck, que es literalmente bajarse un archivo dd una web y ejecutarlo, metes las roms en la carpeta que el mismo crea, lo mismo las BIOS, y YA, no tienes que configurar absolutamente nada ni de controles ni de nada salvo que tú quieras hacerlo por optimizar más o lo que sea, porque ya preconfigura todo el solo de todas las plataformas que tiene, es de lejos lo más plug &play que hay en emulación ahora mismo, y además de nuevo sin hacer absolutamente nada más, tienes dos opciones a tu disposición: añadir las roms como si fueran juegos de Steam nativos, y que salgan ahí en tu biblioteca como los demás, o usar emulation station, que es un front end con todos los emuladores y las roms organizadas, ya que emudek ya se encarga de instalar ambas cosas,.o combinar ambas etc.

Y ya por último el tema del servicio postventa, que con value estás cubierto totalmente, con empresas chinas la cosa ya se complica bastante más, que este punto se suele eludir en las comparativas y para mí es clave xD

Para los triple AAA puedo utilizar o el sobremesa o bien en un futuro me planteo otra handheld, pero sinceramente me mola la idea de tener la primera Steam Deck, se que no es la primera primera pero la LCD he visto que incluso el procesador esta fabricado a 7nm en vez de 6nm entre otras diferencias.

Lo de los marcos ya lo he entendido, no conocía el termino en ingles, de los marcos me olvido y mas aún si afecta a la pantalla, aparte entiendo que si se queda en negro algo más de autonomía tendrás.

Y con respecto a Emudeck entiendo que es solo para consolas retro, si quieres jugar a un indie, volviendo al ejemplo Hollow Knight necesitas SteamOS no? Es decir habría que hacer un dual boot?

Varios apuntes:

- Deck puede con los triple A, incluso los actuales, solo se le resisten, de eso de no ser capaz de mantener 30 un puñado. Asi en resumen: todo juego de la pasada gen (ps4/one) esa incluida, para atras, van sin problemas, y el 90% de los actuales tambien, evidentemente a 30/40fps, usando reescalado etc.

- Es mucho mas sencillo que lo que planteas:

Cuando te llegue la deck, hará una instalación inicial automática,(esto es otra ventaja respecto a las otras handhelds, que deck lo hace TODO sola, las demás al ser windowd tienes que ir instalando tu drivers e historias), y cuando acabe tendrás instalado STEAM OS una distribución modificada de Linux, que tiene 2 partes, un modo juego que es lo que verás por defecto, que es básicamente una interfaz como cuálqueir consola, muy pensado para casualizar el pc, y donde es tan simple como bajar y jugar y ya, y luego , a parte, un modo escritorio, que es básicamente eso, un pc con linux con interfaz tipo windowd.

Pues todo lo nativo, es decir los juegos de PC como pueden ser los indies, simplemente los compras en la tienda de Steam desde el modo juego, o webs de keys o donde sea, y los juegas como en cualquier PC, no tienes que instalar nada extra.

Y para la emulación, simplemente te vas al modo escritorio, busca se emudek en un Chrome, lo instalas, y él ya se encarga de instalar emulation station e incluso agregarlo al modo juego de deck para que te aparezca allí como cualquier otro juego, así que simplemente tienes que ejecutar emulación estación como ejecutarías cualquier juego, dentro del propio sistema operativo de deck, no es como un batocera vaya que es un sistema operativo en sí, es solo un programa que contiene todos los emuladores y las roms que tú hayas metido y ya.

Si, estoy al tanto de que muchos juegos triple AAA funcionan bastante bien sobre todo si se usa al pato de Lossless Scaling, pero mi finalidad es similar a la que me has comentado tú, puros indies, arcade y retro, por ese motivo no me he planteado la Ally X, aunque he decir que la batería me llama mucho la atención.

Si no es mucho preguntar cuanto almacenamiento tienes en tu deck? Tengo una micro SD de 512gb que va a ser para los juegos retro, y tengo un SSD 2280 de 2tb lo malo es que en la deck solo admite 2230, creo que tocara conformarse con 512gb internos [+risas]

Yo por ejemplo ando jugando Mario Galaxy a través de emulation station, y eso es magia negra, porque de alguna manera que no llego a entender, Mario Galaxy por ejemplo ya viene configurado de manera que el joystick derecho mueve el cursor que movías con el wimando, además de manera que siempre vuelve al centro cuando lo sueltas, por lo que es óptimo para coger las estrellas y demás, y el r1 es como agitar el wiimando y por lo tanto que Mario gire sobre su eje, incluso viene configurado ya de serie temas más complejos como por ejemplo la fase esa que hace subido al delfín que hay que saltar con él, también ya viene un atajo predefinido para eso xD , y en el Galaxy 2 lo mismo, incluso en juegos de MS-DOS, también los configura de alguna manera para que vayan bien los controles xD, no sé si es que tiene una base de datos de plantillas o algo así y la implanta según juego o qué, pero en líneas generales nunca he tenido que tocar los controles para nada salvo si he querido personalizarlo yo por lo que sea, salvo en Kirby epic yarm que si tiene controles cruzados.

Pero es que además con emulation station, el trackpad izquierdo saca un menú emergente, con distintas plantillas de controles según la plataforma, y una vez dentro de cada una de ellas, ese mismo trackpad izquierdo pasa a ser un menú emergente de varias opciones como pueden ser guardar, cargar, abrir el menú de configuración de la plataforma etc, una virgueria vaya, pero es que además trae shortcut para un montón de cosas según la plataforma, por ejemplo en GameCube o ps2, el combo de start más cruceta sirve para cambiar al vuelo la resolución interna o la relación de aspecto, o en 3ds, con los gatillos creo que era, alternas entre varias configuraciones de pantallas y demás. Wii y wiiu no sé decirte ahora mismo si también tienen shortcuts o menu propio, pero sí que no me ha hecho falta la verdad, todo me ha funcionado sin más a la primera y con buen control.

Y bueno, de almacenamiento depende a cuál te refieres XD, si es la de que LCD para emulación arcade y tal que es lo que quieres montarte tú, la mía es una LCD de 256 GB, y tengo una micro SD de 1tb hasta arriba, de una colección de rooms hecha a mano, empollando / repasando cada catálogo de cada consola/plataforma de la historia, y haciendo una selección XD.

Hice una lista una vez, aunque luego metí mucha mas cosa, por ejemplo arcade que meti unos 200-300, mas juegos de dreamcast etc, pero bueno, por hacerte una idea:

Y un vídeo que aunque es antiguo, creo que te puedes hacer una idea del tema emulación:



En la oled, tengo la de 1TB, y bueno, no quieras saber cuantas microsd XD, pero el 85% o asi de la lista que te puse antes, lo tengo instalado en deck xD, asi que te haces una idea jaja. Tengo el friki-objetivo de tener un "arca" de videjuegos portátil con todo lo que considero potable de toda la historia del videojuego instalado XD y la verdad que entre emulación y lo nativo ya me queda poca cosa a añadir xD, calculo que unos 1800 juegos o asi tengo metidos entre emulación y nativos xD.

P.D: Windoss no se necesita para nada de lo que hemos hablado eh? por si me expliqué mal xD, es todo en Steam os.
Impresionante, se nota tu pasión a la hora de leer los comentarios, te agradezco tu tiempo y toda esta información.

Lo de Windows lo comenté porque para michos les hecha para atrás, pero en mi caso no hubiese sido un problema.

Por supuesto con todo lo que me has dicho ya tengo claro que voy a ir a por una Deck del tirón, pillaré una OLED y a disfrutar.

Luego como me gusta el mod, si la pillo de segundamano con lo que me ahorro lo gasto en cambiar la carcasa por una rollo transparente, mas que nada para tener una "deck única", un poco mas personal.

Y por supuesto ese listado me lo guardo porque seguro que me acabo haciendo una recopilación en mi deck también, eso si nos va a faltar vidas para poder disfrutar de todo ese catálogo jajaja.
