THQ is to let loose a brand new WWE gaming franchise next year, CVG can reveal.
In total, the title will bring the publisher's WWE brand stable to four - including flagship game Smackdown! Vs. Raw, the more accessible WWE All Stars (pictured) and free-to-play Asia release Smackdown! Vs Raw Online.
THQ core games boss Danny Bilson told CVG that S!VR Online would not be getting a Western release in 2011 - but that WWE fans in the UK and US would see a brand new game instead.
Although details weren't forthcoming, Bilson did reveal that the title would be "less simmy" than Smackdown! Vs. Raw, and closer in style to All Stars.
"[Smackdown! Vs Raw Online] is for Asia," he said. "I don't think there's any chance of that coming to the US or Europe, not soon anyway. We don't want to confuse Smackdown Vs. Raw! [the brand] with that online free-to-play game.
"That's a big, expensive title, Smackdown Vs. Raw! - we will not do any cannibalisation of it at all. The online game is also designed uniquely for Asian playing habits and it would probably have to be modified creatively to bring it to the West.
"So there's no plan to bring it here - because what we do have a plan for on that brand is what you saw with All Stars. And next year you'll see another new extension there in another way - that's just as exciting as All Stars, but a little different. We're not talking about that yet.
"We're growing that brand basically through an alternate SKU every six months - the other SKUs [All-Stars and the unannounced game] are more friendly, easier and less simmy than Smackdown! Vs Raw."
CVG outed the existence of WWE All Stars earlier this year, after spotting that THQ had filed the game's trademark in the US.
The publisher subsequently announced the game before E3, where it was playable on the Los Angeles show floor. WWE All Stars is due for release on PS3, 360, Wii, PSP and PS2 in the first half of next year.

Naughty Dog is hiring for a game designer to help design "fun third-person action gameplay and levels", according to a job vacancy posted on the developer's website.
The developer, whose most recent title Uncharted 2: Among Thieves knocked our socks off last October, says that the candidate will be responsible "for the planning, level layout, setup and tuning of single-player levels, from high concept to object placement and scripting", while another vacancy for a character artist demands an "advanced knowledge of human anatomy".
Single-player levels, third-person action and human anatomy, you say? Could Naughty Dog be gearing up for a third Uncharted game? Almost certainly.
Naughty Dog's latest game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is available to buy now on PlayStation 3. The team doesn't currently have any announced projects on the go.

A Namco Bandai earnings report from a couple of months back hinted that the company might be combining video and gaming content for an adaption of the "Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~"
(Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress) movie. Famitsu confirms this to be the case this week.
Debuting on the pages of this week's issue is Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~ Hybrid Pack. This single Blu-ray disc release includes the False Songstress movie and a new PS3 game that's based off the movie.
The PS3 game is titled Macross Trial Frontier. The magazine describes the game as an original title that follows the flow of PSP's Macross Ultimate Frontier, but with the expected rise in visual quality. Gameplay systems are based off the PSP game, allowing for smooth form transformations for your fighter and battles that fill the screen with missiles.
Characters and mecha from the movie will appear in the game. Variable Fighters include VF-25F, VF-25G, YF-25, VF-25S, RVF-25 and Queadluun Rare. More will be announced in a future update. On the character front, you'll be able to select songstresses Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee as support characters. They'll assist you in a variety of ways, and you'll of course get to hear their music during combat.
The movie side of the package includes the full "Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~" movie. Namco Bandai isn't skimping out on the bonus content here. You'll find over 50 minutes of bonus footage, including promotional specials and a video involving Sony's own Toro Station.
Both components will ship on a single Blu-ray disc. You'll need a PS3 to play Trial Frontier, but the video part of the package will be playable in a standard Blu-ray player.
Look for this rare PS3 and movie hybrid on October 7 at ¥7,140.
PS3 owners will get some of this later this year!
The Tales series looks like it will be making PlayStation 3 its new home for the next batch of major releases. Based off leaked info from this week's issue of Jump, PS3 will be getting two Tales games. And not to be left out, PSP will be getting a new Tales game of its own.
(Gaming blog Hachimaki reports that this information has been confirmed by some in-the-know Tales fans.)
One of the PS3 games isn't actually new. Namco Bandai will be bringing Wii's Tales of Graces to PS3. The game will carry the name Tales of Graces F when it arrives this Winter.
PS3 players can expect a number of improvements, including added special attacks for battle, a new outfit for pigtailed heroine Sophie, and the expected visual improvements .
The other PS3 Tales game is currently nameless. The magazine describes it simply as "New Tales." While not sharing any details, the magazine did post a first image illustration.
For PSP, Namco Bandai is readying Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 3. This latest Tales offshoot will feature appearances by over 80 Tales series characters, most notably Tales of Graces hero Aspel. The PSP game is scheduled for release in 2011.
If Aspel is your thing, you can also look forward to an upcoming password that makes Aspel appear in Tales of Phantasia X, complete with voice.

SCEE’s just confirmed it’s holding its gamescom press conference on Tuesday, August 17 in Cologne.
The press conference kicks off at 6.00pm CET (5.00pm BST).
Sony’s also announced the first batch of games its taking to the show, which includes:
* Killzone 3
* Gran Turismo 5
* inFamous 2
* LittleBigPlanet 2
* DC Universe Online
* Journey
* Motorstorm: Apocalypse
* Sorcery
This is only the second press conference to be announced for the show: EA said two weeks ago that it will be holding its presser on the same day as Sony’s, earlier in the afternoon.
gamescom takes place between August 18-22.
What good's a secret project without a secret teaser website? WhatIsIcarus.com isn't much at the moment -- as evidenced by the image above -- but it's likely to fill in leading up to the August 11 reveal of Irrational Game's "Project Icarus."
While domain registry info does not directly link the mystery site to Irrational, its nameservers point to parent-company Take-Two, along with (curiously) sister subsidiary Rockstar Games. For those of you who enjoy a long tease (without a countdown clock), keep an eye on WhatIsIcarus -- and let us know when something happens!
Valve has dropped a hint that we might see Portal 3 in the future.
Talking to UK magazine PSM3, Valve Marketing Manager said "Move and 3D will have to wait for Portal 3 or another title," he added. "We won't be supporting those in Portal 2."
A throwaway statement or an early announcement?

Guillermo del Toro has long professed his love of video games and his desire to work in gaming. In a recent interview, the "Hell Boy" director admitted to MTV News that those desires are already a reality:Guillermo del Toro escribió:"One of the things we're announcing in the next few weeks is a big deal with a big company. We're going to do games that are going to be technically and narratively very interesting. It's not a development deal. We're going to do it. We're doing them. And we're going to announce it soon enough."
Unfortunately del Toro wouldn't offer up any additional details, saying that the aforementioned big company "would probably shoot me in the head."
Despite his lack of detail, we can certainly guess what he may be working on. He's spoken in the past about his desire to work on a Hobbit game, and even though he's not tapped to direct the new "Hobbit" movie, planned for 2012, he may be working on the non-film side.
Or, for all we know, he could be working on a new IP, taking a cue from Speilberg's work on "BoomBlox."
Or, hey, Irrational is announcing their next game on August 11, and that's a couple of weeks away! Unlikely, but you never know.
On the bright side, we won't have to wait longer than a few weeks to get some answers.
Just over a week since Sega confirmed that Thor: The Video Game was on track for next year, the company has released the first bits of media. There isn't much to go on at this point, with only a brief teaser trailer and a pair of concept art images, but allow us to make this bold prediction: The core gameplay mechanic will involve smashing things.
Dark Void developers Airtight Games are working on an "original AAA IP with a top-tier publisher", according to a job listing posted on Gamasutra.
The Washington-based developer is currently looking for a Level Designer to join the ranks for the "unique project", which judging by the job description will be a third-person shooter built using Unreal Engine 3.
Amongst the ability to "meet deadlines", the successful candidate also needs to have an "understanding of and desire to create third-person shooter gameplay" and "experience crafting traversal based or combat based gameplay scenarios."
The "top-tier publisher" presumably won't be Capcom, though, who said back in May that they'd only consider using Western studios to develop sequels, rather than create new IPs. We felt bad for Airtight. Then we played Dark Void.
But although Dark Void failed to perform at both a critical and commercial level when it eventually launched earlier this year, it hasn't always been bad news for the staff at Airtight Games.
Many of the developer's founding members previously developed Xbox flight combat game Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, alongside the Mechassault and MechCommander series of games.
Here's hoping they can live up to their claims for the next one.

Blizzard has said it would consider developing a console game in the future, and it has been keeping itself “up-to-speed” on the current platforms.
Speaking with MCV, the firm’s VP and MD of internal operations Michael Ryder said with a past steeped in creating console games, something similar in the future would not be out of the question.
“Our heritage actually goes back to console,” said Ryder. “In the early years, Blizzard made console games. It’s not the heritage, it’s the design decisions and what we think is best for our players.
“In the more recent years it has been PC and online orientated. But we play all kinds of games at Blizzard. We try to learn wherever we can. We play console games and we are up-to-speed on the console platforms. And if we see an opportunity where the game design would work well on the console, then maybe we will go that way.
“We just haven’t announced anything yet.”
Blizzard’s StarCraft II launched yesterday, and WoW’s latest expansion Cataclysm is expected later this year, with Diablo III still a ways off.
The developers are also working on an unannounced MMO, which we’re betting won’t be revealed at BlizzCon this year.

Originally due some time this fall, Zipper Interactive's SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs is now penciled in for release some time next year. The developer confirmed today that it's delaying the PlayStation 3 game to give it some extra polish.
The developer writes on the official SOCOM site "While we're certainly aware that you've been looking forward to playing SOCOM 4 this year, we don't want to take any shortcuts. Instead, we want to deliver the best and most immersive SOCOM game we possibly can and we're going to use our extra time to do just that."
Last year, Konami brought an early build of Metalocalypse: Dethgame to Comic-Con. The title was a Final Fight style beat ‘em up with fountains of blood. I played it last year and glancing through my notes Metalocalypse: Dethgame had brutal finishing moves where you can throw enemies into a spiked traps and a urinal mini-game at the beginning.
Frozen Codebase, the studio behind Screwjumper and Elements of Destruction, were working on Metalocalypse: Dethgame.
“Were” because Konami isn’t publishing the game anymore. Since Metalocalypse: Dethgame wasn’t at E3 or at Konami’s Comic-Con press suite, I asked about it. The story is Adult Swim pulled the license and axed the title. Metalocalypse: Dethgame was supposed to come out on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
Consider this pure speculation, but Black Rock Studio could be working on a new Marvel game for Disney Interactive Studios.
The Brighton-based developer is currently searching for someone with a "love for paper RPGs, board games and comic books" to join the team, which, reading between the lines, may mean that the team is developing a Marvel RPG for Disney.
Disney, remember, completed its acquisition of the comic book publisher last September, but have yet to announce any video games based on the license. Could this be one of them?
Of course, we could be miles out on this one, and this could all simply be a case of the developer just wanting their new teammate to share a fondness for Dungeons and Dragons with them.
But with Split/Second under their belt and no announced projects in the pipeline, we wouldn't be too surprised to see a Marvel game from the developer appear further down the road.
