Despite the recently discovered resume indicating that Batman: Arkham Asylum developer Rocksteady Studios may be working on a game titled Hitman5 (yes, without a space), Eidos "Life President" Ian Livingstone flat out denies the possibility. Talking to Prey's World Gaming Magazine, Livingstone said, "Hitman always has been and always will be IO Interactive's baby, which it still continues to be so."
Worried about miswording in that? He followed up with, "Rocksteady are not involved with the development of Hitman 5." All that said, we do know that some version of Hitman is on the way, as Livingstone has confirmed as such in the past and Rocksteady is currently hiring a few positions to produce a "AAA titile on the next generation platforms." It appears as though the two are unrelated though, at least for now. Meanwhile, IO Interactive is currently wrapping up development of Mini Ninjas for a September release -- and then the studio can get to work on the next Hitman game in earnest, eh?

Gilipollez ninguna.

LucasArts will reveal their new internal intellectual property soon. The San Francisco based video game publisher and developer just finished an interview with GameTrailers discussing the new game. Here is the official Twitter announcement below:
“Our Prez just Finished an interview w/ @Gametrailers. Discussed new internal LucasArts IP. Tune in Sept 10 to hear whats up!”
Two big game conventions will be taking place between now and September 10th: GamesCom (August 19th - 23rd) and Penny Arcade Expo (September 4th - 6th). So you might be able to find out about the new intellectual property (whether if it is a new Star Wars franchise, return to the classic adventure genre or something completely different) before the interview with GameTrailers is shown.

There is a new PlayStation 3 box art that is floating around with a significant change. Instead of the PlayStation 3 Spider-Man font on the left side of the box, it has now been moved to the top again, like the PS2’s box art. With the recent leaked images of the supposed PS3 Slim and it’s new font, it looks like they’ve got rid of the Spider-Man font to coincide with the PS3 Slim.
The new box art is much neater/cleaner than the old PS3 box art (shown below). The old one had text and information all over the place. On the left there would be the PlayStation 3 Logo and on the top there would be the new “Only On PlayStation” text, where the PlayStation had a different font than the PS3 font, and the PlayStation Network logo to show there is online play. When compared to the new one, all the information is on top for you to read.
When will we see the change? Who knows, but let’s hope it is announced during GamesCom ton Tuesday August 18th, this week, with the PS3 Slim by it’s side. I personally would welcome the change, what do you think?
Thanks to the anonymous tipster that sent us the new box art.

esident Evil: Outbreak on PSN/XBL a Possibility?
Remember Resident Evil: Outbreak – an Online only game for the PS2? Well, that makes one of us because I surely don’t. But that’s besides the point, after having one of the readers on Gamingvice.net mention it in response to a recent article 5 PS2 Franchises for PSN as a Priority, I then started looking up the game.
Ahead of it’s time? Yeah, you can say that. Right now we’re trying to get as many people to speak up and get this game re-released on the PSN. Everything is going well thus far, but the one question you might ask “Why would I want Resident Evil: Outbreak?”
Much like Final Fantasy XI, this resident Evil title was a generation ahead of it’s time and has been overlooked due to a mediocre at best online experience, an experience that this game solely relied on. The Online Co-op for the story mode is great along with the option of playing the “one man for himself” scenario where everyone tries to survive the zombie outbreak. The possibility of purchasing this title on PSN or XBL would make this game a complete gem, the gem it should have been provided the internet connection speeds were what they are now.
Another thing I’d like to see done but isn’t necessary is an HD Remix of this title, and not to mention expanding on the gameplay possibilities since the game would and should be getting a revival rather than playing it as a “Classic”. But right now, we’re just trying to make this a possibility for XBL and PSN which would be a great success for Capcom as well as gamers – obviously.
Which brings me to my final note - aside from Deadspace, I am finding quality Horror-core games to be few and far between…the Horror genre in gaming is dying and it started with Capcom abandoning it in the 4th resident Evil. Convince capcom to bring this game back and consider retruning resident Evil to it’s roots as they have the formula for a great game, but the series is what it is due to the Horror aspect.
If you’d like to see this game brought back, check below as we can all make this happen with just a little bit of effort.
Capcom Unity Forums
This is not a petition, it is the official Capcom forums where all you have to do is register and voice your opinion as it is one of the “stickied” threads. As was mentioned previously, the moderators are even backing this up as this is a way to get this game the attention it deserves.
Sony's GamesCom press conference is only hours away, but before the fireworks fly, we wanted to give you our predictions. What are we basing these on? The information and evidence that's currently floating around the Internet and perhaps a dash of something extra... Anyway, here are the announcements we think will happen; announcements that will get you excited in less than 24 hours.
The PS3 Slim becomes the default machine for Sony
We believe the PS3 Slim is real, and it will replace the 80GB PS3 as the standard console on store shelves. For specs, we think it will have a bigger hard drive (120GB) although it may be missing a feature or two from the current model; this will allow it to be $100 cheaper. If we're lucky, it'll be exactly like the 80GB PS3 that merely costs $299 instead of $399 but we get the feeling that Sony is gonna take out something... Anyway, this means the 80GB model will soon disappear - when the current retail stock is exhausted, it's gone forever - and they will keep the 160GB model, which will also get a price drop down to $399.
Backwards compatibility comes with a later firmware update
This is something people have been talking about a lot lately, and while it won't come with the new PS3, we will say a future firmware update (possibly in mid-September) will mark the return of backwards compatibility for PS2 software. It'll be back to software emulation so it may only pertain to about 75-80% of the PS2's library, but it'll certainly emulate the major titles we'd all want to play again. Some believe we're far enough along in this generation where this is unnecessary, but with the insane longevity of the PS2 and the fact that so many people have one (and comparatively, so few people have the PS3), Sony decided to bring it back.
Gran Turismo 5 will launch in early December
The hints keep coming and we're now convinced that GT5 will see the light of day in 2009. We think it'll be the most anticipated release in December, and Sony will give consumers at least three weeks to nab it as the highly sought-after holiday present it will be. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has said Polyphony could release the game "whenever they wanted," and it was just a matter of timing...well, the timing can't get much better than a release date of December 1 (or something like that). Besides, several big titles have already been pushed out of this year and we don't really see much in the way of heavy competition in December, so that month would be all about GT5 and give the freshly discounted PS3 the final push towards a definite sales victory.
So there you have it. We'll see if any of these predictions come true. Also, Sony will definitely turn some heads with the games they have on tap for the show, so expect to see a ton of headlines pertaining to the PlayStation brand tomorrow.

Our sources had indicated to us last week that one of the publishers in question was, surprisingly, Square Enix. In fact, the publisher is said to have owed GRIN payments upwards of a few million dollars. The project? An action title based in the world of Final Fantasy -- more specifically, Final Fantasy XII. Hard to believe, right?

During 2009 I've been working on the preproduction for an unannounced, and now canceled project with the production name "Fortress" for Square Enix. It mainly included documentation and design of new game play systems and art production guidelines as well as research into how to solve the graphical scenes presented in the game design document.

However, it appears that Sony may be preparing a little surprise for all PlayStation 3 owners out there, especially those who were disappointed that GoWIII didn't make it this year. A reader has turned us onto MarkPlayStation's Twitter page; this guy is supposedly a manager for Sony Mexico. And if the translation is correct, there's a very special package heading our way in December: this package will consist of both God of War and God of War II, plus a playable demo of God of War III. Yes, it's a Blu-Ray disc for the PS3 and it's very big news if true. The only bizarre part about this is that Sony hasn't announced it yet, and as this franchise has always been more popular in the eyes of Western gamers, it seems strange that Sony would announce this at the Tokyo Game Show next month. Maybe they don't consider it big enough for a show unveiling; maybe we'll just suddenly see the press release in our inboxes. Who knows?
But we do remember a survey earlier this year that asked gamers what they thought about revamped GoW titles...if we remember correctly. It's no surprise that fans of the series would love to be able to replay the first two stellar installments on the PS3, and that GoWIII demo is even further incentive. We'll see what we can dig up but in the meantime, keep your eyes and ears peeled...
