Hi, my name is X.
I want to comment a problem I have with a graphic card gigabyte 7900GS that I bought around a month ago (GV-NX79G256DP-RH). The problems is the following: since I bought the card in some games when I play a few minutes or even when I start the game, the screen goes black and the led changes from green to yellow, so this means that the card stops sending images. Anyway, the sound keeps playing on the background.
I thought that the root of this problem was that my operating system was "dirty" because it was a Windows XP SP2 with more than a year and with many applications installed. I didn't have any time until two weeks ago to reinstall the operation system.
I made a clean installation, I installed the drivers for all my hardware, including the drivers that came with the card. My surprise was when I saw that problem was still there and I could check that it occurs with more games than I thought.
Half-Life 2 or any game that uses its engine starts but after some minutes the screen goes black.
Battlefield 2 at 1920x1440 or 1600x1200 starts but after some minutes happens the same as Half-Life 2. If I set 1280x1024 as resolution it works fine but if I activate the antialiasing filter at 4x the screen goes black when the game initializes the 3D mode.
In Painkiller occurs randomly. Sometimes the screen goes black just when the game introduction is loaded, where the main character appears and is shown "Heavens got a hitman".
In Trackmania Nations if I put the game in fullscreen (with any resolution) the screen goes black but if I run it in a window sometimes works.
In 3DMark 06, when I run the full test, the first tests works fine but when the second tests is loaded (the forest one) the screen goes black again.
The card never showed artifacts and nothing strange so I could suppose that it is damaged. I borrowed a Geforce 8800GTX froma friend to check if the problem was in my card and it is. I connected the 8800GTX, I installed the drivers and all the games with problems worked fine.
When I connected my 7900GS again the problems started to appear again.
The temperatures are, 40ºC in idle and 65ºC in full (measured with rivatuner). I also measured the temperatures with an infrared sensor to check that the temperatures were right.
The power supply works perfectly and the molex connector is connected correctly (the power supply worked fine with the Geforce 8800GTX).
I want to find a solution for this. I tried to use the card guarantee in the shop where I bought it but they return it to me without any modifications. When they test it, they only check if Windows boots. They don't want to make tests with any game because they say that it takes too long.
I have the card since one month and I would like to find a quick solution.
Thank you for your attention. Greetings.

la tarjeta esta petada... necesitas contactar con el SAT de gigabyte para eso? o es que no puedes reclamar la tarjeta a la tienda?
saludos.
