What are the minimum system requirements to run Flight Simulator X?
* Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 / Vista
* PC with 1 GHz equivalent or higher processor
* 256 MB of system RAM for Windows XP SP2 / 512 MB Vista
* 14 GB available hard disk space
* 32x speed or faster DVD-ROM drive
* 32 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card required
* Sound card, speakers, or headphones required for audio
* Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
* 56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play
The recommended specs in our reviewer's guide were: a 3GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 512MB videocard!
Y en otra web:
But these specifications are wishful thinking. I first installed this program on a top-of-the-line HP Pavilion laptop with 1.83 GHz dual core processor, 2 GB RAM, and dedicated graphics card; it ran - but not very well. With that laptop out of service, I've now installed the program on an Apple iMac with 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2 GB RAM, dedicated ATI Radeon X1600 graphics card, and Windows Vista dual-boot capability; now it runs fairly well, at medium settings.
When DirectX 10 (which requires Vista) comes out, Microsoft promises vast improvements in graphics and sound. But it will, of course, require very fast hardware.
Windows Vista has a numeric rating called Windows Experience Index, where the system is evaluated on five different factors, and the lowest score (the weakest link in the system) is applied as the systemwide score. Flight Simulator X requires a score of 3.0 to run, and a 5.0 is recommended. My old laptop could only score a 3.2, and even my iMac, fast as it is, can muster only a 4.2.
