Kubuntu y raid 0

He instalado un kubuntu en mi ordenador, para instalarlo ningun problema, pero tengo un raid 0 de dos discos satas y no consigo montarlo.

¿alguna idea, pista o ayuda?
Dos cosas

1) ¿Cómo has hecho el RAID? ¿Vía hardware?

2) ¿Cómo se te ocurre usar un RAID0?
Sep, via hardware, la controladora es la de la placa base (una asrock, esta )

Y en cuanto a la pregunta dos... pos por que si, se supone que hay aumento de rendimiento y estas cosas, y al ser 2 hd iguales no hay problema.
¿ Linux ve dos discos o uno solo ? Si ve dos discos es que no es un raid por hardware, diga lo que diga el fabricante. Si ve uno, es cuestión de montarlo como un disco normal.

Sobre el RAID 0, es bastante chorra. Realmente tienes doble de velocidad de lectura y la misma de escritura. Pero el RAID 0 no tiene tolerancia a fallos así que tienes el doble posibilidades de quedarte sin datos. Así que eso de que no hay problema...

PD: Lo de 'se supone que...' suena a ric3r... pero bueno, haré la vista gorda.

Por consejo de un amigo que entiende algo de linux (yo poquito, lo ultimo que hice con el del curro fue cargarmelo por que le di permisos 777 a todo xD) puse
dmesg |grep sata y dmesg |grep SATA
Y en las dos las entradas me salian repetidas.

Sin el grep aparecian varios sda (tb siempre repetidos), no se si esto es a lo que te refieres de si ve uno o dos.

El fabricante no se que dice, pero vamos, si es desde la controladora, antes de arrancar el SO es de suponer que sera por hardware.

¿que o quien es nic3r?, lo del "se supone que", lo puse por que el raid lo hice para probar si se notaba diferencia de velocidad (y la verdad es que no demasiado)
Por partes,

1) Sin información concreta no te puedo ayudar con lo de linux.

2) El RAID 0 te da el doble en lectura, lo que SI se debe notar y mucho. Pero el mismo rendimiento en escritura. Así que depende del tipo de cosas que hagas lo notarás o no. Personalmente no usaría un RAID 0 en una workstation... de hecho no creo que usara un RAID 0 en muchos sitios. Un RAID 1, un 0+1 o un 5 parecen tener más sentido.

Sobre lo de ric3r... olvídalo...

¿que informacion concreta?, ¿te pego las lineas esas tal y como me salieron?

En cualquier caso, gracias por el interes ^^, ya digo que queria desmontar el raid, pero tengo demasiadas cosas y muy pocos dvds, si ves que es mucho follon, olvidalo.
Si pudieras conseguir toda la salida del 'dmesg', mejor.

Estando de acuerdo con la poca conveniencia de usar un RAID 0 en según qué casos, siendo más seguro un RAID con mirroring o paridad, diría que un RAID 0, a la hora de escribir te da más rendimiento que un solo disco sin RAID, puesto que reparte la información a escribir entre los dos discos, tardaría teóricamente la mitad.
Obviamente hablando de RAID por hardware, por software no se obtienen grandes mejoras.

Vale.... Java es malo para mi cabeza. RAID0 te debería dar mejor rendimiento en general, pero no especialmente mucho. Es RAID1 el que da el doble en lectura y lo mismo en escritura.

Por otro lado, decir que un RAID por software tambien funciona muy muy bien eh.

A primera vista parece ver dos discos, uno con una partición y el otro sin tabla de particiones reconocible. ¿ Cuantas particiones tiene el RAID ?

¿ En Windows tuviste que instalar algún tipo de driver para el RAID ?

Tiene una sola particion, en windows es la unidad I: (aunque supongo que es irrelevante).

Y si, tube que instalar un driver que venia en la placa base. Mire en la web del fabricante y no vi nada para linux, ni driver ni un readme ni nada de eso.
Lo imaginaba... ¿ Has intentado montar /dev/sda1 ? Esa es la partición que ve Linux. De todas formas ese RAID no es por hardware realmente. Será alguna guarrada mixta; de ahí que necesite drivers en Windows.

Busca información de tu placa en Linux, lo mismo está soportado.

¿no habra alguna aplicacion que me permita distribuir lo que tengo en el raid entre los dos discos duros, cree dos tablas de particion y me desmonte el raid?
No, me refería a que buscaras soporte en Linux sobre esa placa. Si lo buscas en internet, en tu LUG local o en otro sitio, ya es cosa tuya :)

Sobre lo otro que dices.. realmente ni idea.
Investigando un poco por la pagina de ubuntu (espero que no sea muy importante usar el kde o el gnome para esto) he encontrado esta info, por si alguien tiene el mismo problema.
In the last year or two a number of hardware products have come on the market claiming to be IDE or SATA RAID controllers. Virtually all of them are not really hardware RAID controllers. Instead they are simply a multi-channel disk controller that has special BIOS and drivers for the OS to perform the software RAID functions. This has the effect of giving the appearence of a hardware RAID, because the RAID configuration is set up using a BIOS setup screen and the system can be booted from the RAID.


Por lo visto me apresure en decir que era un raid por hardware. En esta pagina dan informacion sobre esto, por si a alguien le interesara (aun estoy intentando digerirla y no se si sirve pa solucionar mi problema o no xD)
