A medida que avanzaba la noche y los premios iban cayendo, cada vez estaba más claro que God of War Ragnarok se llevaría el premio a Juego del Año en la gala The Game Awards 2022, pero no ha sido así. Finalmente el merecedor del galardón más preciado ha sido Elden Ring, que también se ha llevado el de mejor dirección, mejor juego de rol y mejor diseño de arte. God of War Ragnarok no se ha ido de vacío, pues se ha llevado hasta seis premios, incluyendo mejor narrativa, banda sonora y diseño de audio.
