Hola, me he comprado finalmente un barebone, que viene con una tarjeta ati xpress x200. Instale los drivers propietarios (con radeon ni arrancan las X) en ubuntu, y me funciona la aceleracion glxinfo |grep direct me dice si.
El problema es que en el xorg.conf, ponga la resolución que ponga no pasa de 1280x1020, y en un monitor de 20,1 pulgadas panoramico es totalmente ridiculo (se ve achatao). Hay algun problema inherente o que puede pasar?

Deberias empezar por copiar el xorg.conf

No es problema de la tarjeta, es problema de la configuracion del monitor. Tienes que colocar correctamente las frecuencias de actualizacion vertical y horizontal en el archivo de configuracion del Xorg.
