HandsOn del Nokia 770

En mobile burn han podido tratear con el nokia770. Para quien no se entero, es una especie de palm/PPC que corre LinuxDebian y tendria un precio de alrededor de 350U$D





The maemo UI is built upon the well-known Gnome UI, but differs from Nokia's Series 60/80/90 UIs that run on top of Symbian OS in that applications developed for the 770 and future maemo devices will not locked into using the maemo UI widgets. Nokia is hoping that developers will make maemo specific versions of their applications, for consistency's sake, but does not want to prevent anybody from doing a quick recompile/port of an application, either.





Basicamente, en el 770 el MaemoUI correra bajo Linux y no estariamos obligados a usar solo aplicaciones creadas por/para telefonos nokia, sino tambien ports de aplicaciones y juegos de linux (ojala porteen algun emu )





Y se pone mejor:

Nokia is saying that it will not exercise any of its patents against the Linux kernel. Jormalainen said that Nokia chose Linux over Symbian OS because the new 770 is much closer to a PC than it is to a phone, and that Linux was the only viable Open Source OS in that realm.





Prometen q no van a retener ninguna patente sobre el Linux del 770, pero no dicen si los SDKs van a ser libres tambien[qmparto]





For their part, Nokia is positioning the 770 as a thin client, a terminal. It is not intended to be a storage device, even though it does share many aspects with new media players, such as its RS-MMC memory card slot. This is the reason that you will find no PIM type applications pre-installed on the system, like a Calendar or ToDo list app. Of course there are plenty of Open Source applications that can fill that void, but it seems clear that Nokia is very much trying not to position the 770 as a PDA, even though it does include an email client (along with Opera, an RSS reader, and other apps).

Al parecer no tendra muchas funciones de PDA, mas bien seria para acceder a internet y cosas por el estilo.





No tiene capacidad de movil, pero si WiFi, y nokia ya anuncio que vendra con capacidad VoIP

El precio lo hace interexsante, y el diseño seria bueno para juegos si en nokia le agregasen 2 o 3 botones del lado derecho(algo q de seguro no pasara, ya q lo convertiria en una amenaza para ngage[enfado1] ).
