Ayuda: No sé montar un lector de tarjetas! lol -.-

Pues nada, que después de haber montado más de uno, he ido a montar uno en un PC de un amigo y me han surgido problemas...
Se trata de un Dell Dimension 9150 con, según de los de Dell, "grande posibilidades de ampliación"... XD
El tema es el siguiente: la caja cumple de sobra ya que tiene dos ranuras de 3 y medio para lectores de tarjetas o disqueteras... Pero el problema viene con la placa base. Según el manual posee una ranura USB FlexBay (¿¡qué significa eso?!) para conectar el lector de tarjetas. ¿qué pasa? que el USB del lector de tarjetas es de 9 pines como este:

Lo ideal es que la placa base tuviera conectores como estos, pero no!, el de la placa base es de 10 pines...

¿Qué hago? ¿Existe algún adaptador de 9 pines a 10 pines o algo por el estilo?
PD:aquí os dejo el manual del ordenador con el esquema de la placa base y el tema de la instalación de un lector de tarjetas.

Da igual 9 pines que 10, si en realidad solo se usan 8 (4 de cada USB), conéctalo y ya está. Lo de que sean 9 pines en vez de 8/10 es simplemente para que no te equivoques al conectarlo y solo entre en una posición.
Claro... Pero como lo conecto para no equivocarme? :S
Además, el pin ese que sobra, lo aplastaría o cómo?
bastaria con doblar el pin. mira bien la placa porque deberia haber alguna indicacion de que pin es el numero uno (una marquita, un 1, algo tiene que haber).

sino, siempre puedes pillarte un adaptador de ese conectar a usb normal y sacas el cable por detras conectandolo a un puerto usb libre de la placa.

tambien puedes cortar un cable usb y empalmarlo para no tener que comprar nada.

otra opcion es una tarjeta pci usb que tenga un pinheader para estos menesteres, por ej. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... m49X493850

aun asi, mi lector interno tiene el cable usb "suelto", es decir, venia con el cable para conectar directo a la placa pero puedes ponerle un cable usb normal para cuando no te quedan puertos libres en placa.

As promised, here's what I got from Dell Tech Support:-

It was a rather vague .bmp diagram with no annotation. Turning into a non-graphic gives ...

Pin 01 - Port 2 Power +5v (Red)
Pin 02 - Port 1 Power +5v (Red)
Pin 03 - Port 2 Data Negative D- (White)
Pin 04 - Port 1 Data Negative D- (White)
Pin 05 - Port 2 Data Positive D+ (Green)
Pin 06 - Port 1 Data Positive D+ (Green)
Pin 07 - Port 2 GND (Black)
Pin 08 - Port 1 GND (Black)
Pin 09 - absent
Pin 10 - present but they didn't label it! I assume it's the extra Shield/Ground.

The header on the mobo is a 5 row x 2 column header and is labelled on the circuit board with Pin 1 being top left, Pin 2 top right, Pin 9 bottom left & Pin 10 bottom right.

The above pin-outs therefore mean that the USB2 connections take the left hand column of pins, and those for USB1 the right hand column.

This is the standard Intel USB header layout, except on the actual header Pin 9 is ACTUALLY physically present.

The pins are spaced at an unusual pitch which took a lot of research to source. They are at 2.0mm rather than the more usual 2.54mm.

When I queried Dell Tech Support about the fact that their diagram showed Pin 9 missing while my mobo definitely had a Pin 9, I got nowhere. I even sent them photos of the header!


WRT the BIOS, and m888's question: yep, that's what I thought. Dell leave it disabled unless they fit a device when they initially build the machine at the factory. If I get anywhere with this as a solution, I'll post an update. I'm sure the User Manual entry is a typo

WRT eBuyer's reviews: yep, I read them too - that's where I got the Mitsumi in the first place
