Looks like Namco Bandai and From Software are best buds. On top of grabbing the Western rights to Dark Souls, Namco Bandai picked Armored Core 5 too. Dengeki broke the news in this week’s issue.
The Armored Core series has an interesting overseas publisher history. Sony Computer Entertainment America introduce the West to the series by releasing the very first Armored Core game for PsOne. Niche publisher Agetec handled the PlayStation 2 iterations in North America. Sega stepped in for Armored Core 4 about a year after the two companies worked on Chromehounds. Ubisoft snapped up Armored Core for Answer while both parties were working on Tenchu: Shadow Assassins. Namco Bandai is the latest company to pick up From Software’s titles.
Armored Core 5 is slated for release this year on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Paradox Interactive and Most Wanted Entertainment announced Defenders of Ardania during the Paradox Interactive Convention 2011. Defenders of Ardania is a next-generation tower defense game that is being developed for four different platforms - PC, iPad, PSN and XBLA. The game is set in the rich fantasy world of Majesty, but with a twist. Besides the addictive core mechanics of placing towers to stop advancing enemy units, Defenders of Ardania also allows players to take on the role of the attackers seeking to conquer the enemy base.
Defenders of Ardanias innovative new game concepts include light RTS elements, taking the popular genre to the next level. Players must oversee unit production and upgrades while assembling the most effective army from one of three playable races, each with unique locations, towers, and units. However, without magic, a fantasy game is little more than a toothless lion (or dragon, rather), so a wide range of spells will be available for players to decimate their enemies and protect their forces.
Although Defenders of Ardania includes a single-player portion, the focus of the game is undoubtedly multiplayer, where two to four players can take each other on or compete against AI opponents via Internet, LAN, or PSN. The multiplayer component offers three different game modes where players can assume either the defensive or offensive sides – or both!
Features
* An intriguing new take on the massively popular tower defense genre: players lead both offensive and defensive operations
* Ardania: the world of Majesty with three playable races and their unique environments
* Defense: 24 different upgradeable towers to erect against the invading enemy
* Attack: 24 varied units with diverse attributes to assemble into an offensive force
* Strong multiplayer component with a variety of game modes for up to four players
* Interactive environment that affects gameplay
* A wide range of offensive and defensive spells
Defenders of Ardania will be available in Q2, 2011.

EA will release a "very exciting" as-yet unannounced FPS before the end of 2011, according to CEO John Riccitiello.
The EA boss made the announcement while answering a question from an investor regarding the future of the Medal of Honor franchise during an earnings call today.
"The intention for us is to have strong FPS entries each year," he explained.
"I don't want to give away the thunder from our call but for quite a long time now I've been saying it's our long term goal to take back the first person shooter category leadership.
"We've made strong progress in calendar '10 over calendar '09. This year, with the tail-end of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 still doing well and Medal of Honor still doing well... with Crysis and Bulletstorm we're clearly going to make more progress towards our goal and that's before we get to what I think is going to be a very exciting entry later in the year that we're not yet announcing."
Of course, he could be referring to Battlefield 3, widely expected to launch this year – though that was officially announced in August last year and has been talked-up by Riccitiello since.
Failing that, we're left with either a second bite of the cherry from the new look Medal of Honor series or a brand new franchise. Place your bets.
goldenaxeband escribió:Crytek: ¿TimeSplitters 4? Es una posibilidadCrytek boss Cervat Yerli has told CVG that the company is “discussing” the possibility of developing TimeSplitters 4.
“Yeah, we have been discussing it, but nothing has been confirmed yet, so let’s see after Crysis 2,” he said.
Crytek bought out original developer Free Radical in 2009 after it went into administration. But Yerli says he is “very confident” about the team, rebranded Crytek UK, helping to push Crysis 2, which it has developed on the multiplayer side, into a Meta 90.
“I love working with our UK friends,” Yerli said. “The team has been performing up to the quality bar easily. Our thinking was that the team had done 80-85 rated games, and we thought that with the right technology, IP and global IP direction they could reach the 90 barrier. I’m very confident that they can do that.”
The last heard on a possibile TS4 was when Crytek UK boss Karl Hilton said last year that it was “talking to publishers” about it.

Cuarto día de "A Tale of Two Richards: Galaga"Namco Bandai closed off its week of updates with day four of its mysterious teaser website, ‘A Tale of Two Richards‘. Today, it looks like they’re teasing something Galaga-related. On the site, you’ll find little Galaga ships and enemies floating about the distortion.
The site’s already seen teasers for Tales, Pac-Man, and Tekken. The teasers should end on February 2. As for now, we wait and wonder what Namco Bandai has in store.

Ubisoft is porting yet another of their casual Wii games to the PlayStation 3, in the hopes of getting more sales. The game, Dance on Broadway, released in June last year and has a metacritic average of just 48.
The ESRB has released a ratings summary for the game, which they have given an "Everyone 10+" rating:
This is a dance simulation game in which players follow on-screen cues to perform Broadway dance routines. Players can choose an avatar, and learn dance steps by following the movements of the dancer on screen. Some of the female costumes are somewhat revealing (low-cut dresses, showgirl costumes, lingerie-like outfits with garter belts, etc.). Song lyrics contain lines such as "Look at my a*s, look at my thighs, I'm cat nip to the guys" and "She wasn't what you'd call a blushing flower . . . As a matter of fact she rented by the hour."
If this sounds like your type of game, look forward to its release date on March 15th, 2011.
Answering a reply as to when we would see the Volition sequel, which has been long chatted about by THQ, Bilson only said in a tweet:
“Big announcement coming soon.”
Promised formal reveals at E3 last June and at the Spike VGAs in December passed without a showing, with Volition choosing to instead focus on new horror tile inSane, made in conjunction with Guillermo del Toro.
Time for the maths lesson. THQ just so happens to hold its Q3 financial call later on tonight GMT. You may want to watch carefully tonight.
Born as Richard Starkey, Starr filed the trademark back in January for “Ringo” under the goods and services description.
It appears there’s a “downloadable computer games via the Internet and wireless devices,” in our future, possibly. The trademark also covers “toys, namely toy vehicles, plush toys…etc.”
No word yet on what this may be, but it doesn’t look Thomas the Trail related at least, and we’re hoping beyond all hope it’s not Caveman related – unless a young Barbara Bach is involved.
You'll have to read the magazine to get the dirt on what DICE has in store for the single-player and multiplayer modes, but check back here and visit the official Battlefield 3 site tomorrow to watch the premiere teaser trailer and glean a few more key details.

Japanese übermensch director Hideo Kojima is known as someone who likes to have multiple fingers in multiple pies. Noted for his obsessiveness with the Metal Gear Solid series, the gaming maven also likes to collaborate with other directors and teams to keep things fresh.
Tweeting today, Kojima seems to be juggling that one bugbear all managers struggle with – time-management. He said:
Have to give priority to another line’s scenario etc., so now I cannot work on “the devil project” and “writing”.
Before continuing:
Worked on my “devil project” a bit after lunch. An experiment went well. Plot adjustment. Additional project. Phew.. now another line.
What is Kojima’s “Devil Project”? Start your speculation below.
In other Kojima Twitter news, the director also revealed recently how he has performed a Lazarus on one of his characters. He said:
I brought back a character I killed before. Kind of cool.
Gray Fox?
According to a statement from Irrational, the studio has grown from 40 to 100 staff within the last year, and is still not done.
To satisfy its “ambitious plans”, the developer is looking for programmers, core technologies, designers, and artists.
More details on the Irrational Games website.
Irrational is a subsidary of 2K, and based in Massachusetts. Its next big release is, of course, BioShock Infinite, due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012.
UK retailer GAME has published what appears to be the first ever details on Battlefield 3, revealing that we'll be waging war in Paris, New York and Tehran, and destroying recognisable landmarks.
"Battlefield's back and looking better than ever," reads the product description.
"Battlefield 3 leaps ahead of the competition with the power of Frostbite 2, the next instalment of DICE's cutting-edge game engine.
"This state-of-the-art technology is the foundation on which Battlefield 3 is built, delivering superior visual quality, a grand sense of scale, massive destruction, dynamic audio and incredibly lifelike character animations. As bullets whiz by, walls crumble, and explosions throw you to the ground, the battlefield feels more alive and interactive than ever before."
"Watch buildings crumble and cover disappear as bullets and explosion tear through your surroundings! Even landmarks you recognise aren't safe from the destruction you'll inflict!"
"In Battlefield 3, players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines where they will experience heart-pounding single player missions and competitive multiplayer actions ranging across diverse locations from around the globe including Paris, Tehran and New York."
Anyone up for a bit of Eiffel Tower destruction, then?
It was revealed last night that US mag Game Informer is due to have the exclusive reveal of Battlefield 3 in its next issue, with a leaked teaser trailer announcing a 'Fall 2011' release date.
If you like your fighting games strictly on a two-dimensional plane and with just a single gender, you might want to start paying attention to Skullgirls, a new independently developed fighting game coming to "high-definition home consoles."
Skullgirls is the work of Reverge Labs, lead by ex-Pandemic developer and fighting game expert Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont. It's a combo-laden girl-versus-girl brawl, pitting girls with deadly hair and short skirts against each other in mortal combat. And now, after making a few appearances at fighting game tournaments and conventions, Skullgirls is coming to consoles.
The game's distinctive art style comes courtesy of artist Alex Ahad, whose work can be browsed on Deviantart.
Skullgirls roster features characters like Valentine, a nurse ninja; the demon-haired Filia; a girl who wears hulking arms for a hat, Cerebella; and zombie cutie Squigly.
Expect Skullgirls to hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this summer, even if those consoles haven't been officially announced, with our first proper hands-on preview happening next month.
If you never thought you’d see news about the Power Rangers posted on here, add us to your party. We’ll bring chips and beer.
According to the press release, Namco plans to create a new series of console games based on the upcoming Power Rangers Samurai series, which premieres February 7 on Nickelodeon.
The show follows a new generation of five Rangers who must master the ancient Samurai Symbols of Power, which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest and Earth. Under the guidance of their all-knowing Samurai mentor, Ji, and with the aid of their devoted animal Zords (Lion, Dragon, Ape, Turtle and Bear), they battle to save Earth from the dark forces of the Netherworld led by the evil Master Xandred.
“We’ve put the project on hold for now, but the moment I know more I will let you know,” said Taylor in an email.
“I can’t go into those details just yet… Let’s call it a ‘timing’ thing.”
The RTS was announced in February last year.
Kings and Castles was described as “an epic real-time strategy game for the PC and next-generation consoles,” and a “one-of-a-kind experience will let players take on the role of one of three powerful kings who are vying for control of an all-new, original fantasy world.”
Key features were said to be the ability to zoom to any level, “incredible maps, and eye-popping visuals that will run on a wide range of systems.”
The game was shown at E3 last year in trailer form, and looked far beyond the “having a think about it” phase.
Capcom certainly has no shortage of franchises, including some that have remained dormant for several years. One of the company's bigger successes of the past decade was Onimusha, a series that started in 2001 and quickly spawned six entries within five years. But since 2006, Onimusha has remained dormant, and fans have wondered if Capcom would return to the game on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
Onimusha has had a number of notable producers and directors over the years, including former Capcom head of production Keiji Inafune and current Capcom head of production Jun Takeuchi. But another name involved with the series is Yoshinori Ono, who happens to also be Capcom's main Street Fighter producer. Ono stopped by IGN's offices recently, and we had a chance to ask if fans could expect Onimusha to return.
"The time feels right to me. It feels like it's the time to resurrect that series," Ono said in our interview. "But I wouldn't want to do the things we've done before. I think it might be time to progress beyond the standard single-player adventure. There should be ways to expand upon what we've done while involving the community more. Perhaps implement some sort of multiplayer into a game like that.
Inversion, originally announced by Namco Bandai back in 2009, has made a reappearance today. The publisher’s dated the Saber Interactive-developed title in a new teaser trailer for release on February 7, 2012.
The game combines zero-gravity and third-person shooter-ing. A batch of gameplay shots, shown in past updates, can be found at the gallery.
The game will launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Check out the new trailer below.

Cochey Cantu, an ex-Obsidian artist currently placed as a lead artist at Blind Squirrel Games, has apparently revealed Obsidian’s next title, something called Project Virginia, on his CV.
As pointed out by a poster on NeoGAF, Virginia is the tenth state of the United States, the relevance being that this game would be Obsidian’s tenth.
There is no other detail on the title at the moment, other than it being slated for a 2011 release, according to the ex-Obsidian artist’s resume.

Of course this is PURE speculation, but recent job postings on the official PlayStation Careers site may hint to what is to come. There have been several job listings for Santa Monica studios, the team known mostly for its creation of the God of War series. The job listings include the following positions:
* Senior Tools/Technology Programmer (God of War Team)
* Senior Online Programmer (God of War Team)
* Senior Graphics/ Technology Programmer (God of War Team)
* Senior Gameplay/Generalist Programmer (God of War Team)
