Pro-G: What systems will gamers be able to venture online with? Anything planned for the Wii?

KH: There is online for the PS3 and Xbox 360. There won’t be online initially for the Wii, but we are working with Nintendo to see how we can get those features in.

So…anyone want to place some bets on just how long “initially” will last

Guitar Hero III: Legends of the Rock no contará con modo de juego online en Wii de lanzamiento, según ha confirmado el fundador de RedOctane, Kai Huang, a la publicación Pro-G. Al parecer, y a pesar de estar trabajando de manera continua con Nintendo, la desarrolladora no contaría con los recursos necesarios para lanzar el modo de juego multijugador online en la versión de Wii acompañando al título en su lanzamiento. No obstante, la compañía espera incluirlo posteriormente. En sus propias palabras, "No habrá modo online inicialmente en Wii. Pero estamos trabajando con Nintendo para ver cómo podemos incluir esa funcionalidad".

Guitar Hero III is scheduled to hit PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii in Autumn this year. However, many were left wondering whether the Wii version would require a guitar peripheral - like previous Guitar Hero titles - or utilise the console's Wiimote.

While the development team is still exploring innovative ways to use the remote, Kai Huang told us: "We are really excited about the Wii game because there are so many options for the Wii remote. However, you will play the game with a guitar peripheral and it will be similar to a guitar you've seen in the past."

He also confirmed that Guitar Hero III on Wii contains features included in other versions of the upcoming game - such as online play and downloadable music.
