Update: Microsoft has informed Kotaku that they have not shut down the studio but it has ended development on flight simulator Microsoft Flight and Project Columbia, a Kinect interactive TV project designed for children.
Although Microsoft would not comment on how many people were laid off, they say Microsoft Game Studios in Vancouver has "more projects and development in the pipeline."

Senior Systems Software Development Engineer
The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for owning and driving the core systems architecture and platform features for a AAA Action Console game. RESPONSIBILILTIES:
- Innovate, design and, develop and adapt world-class technologies for next-generation platforms, working closely with engineers, design team, and artists to ensure the solutions meet the requirements of the game title.
- Design, architect, execute, and improve a variety of systems and modules, including rendering, audio, resource management, networking, tools, and more.
- Participates in the analysis and mitigation of risk in systems engineering schedule.
